"All meals were vegan -...  The same natural ingredients were combined over weeks, but no dish was repeated Interesting to see how the habit and ease falsely offered by the supermarket can be replaced by trials that are a real alchemy.

The vegetables was mostly from the open market in Serra Grande, which takes place on Sundays, and to ensure that had fresh vegetables and especially the green salads, we had to get up early and get there before six in the morning. What is was there, it had to be sought in Ilheus.

I was responsible for supplying the house with kilos of zucchini, carrots, onions, pumpkins and potatoes went to the supermarket in Ilheus and was surprised with small sensations that connected me even more to this lifestyle. Two very simple points caught my attention: the fact of buying food for about 20 people and only three items are processed and packaged (batteries, raisins and sesame cracker) and the annoyance I felt when I bring to the community waste such packaging and plastic bags which were the vegetables. This was a waste that, unlike everything we did there, could not go to the compost to nourish the earth and return to food.

It seems a silly thing and it is. But only when I saw (and lived) the proportion of produced organic waste and salvaged being much larger than the recyclable waste is that I felt the pleasure that is in generating waste that can be absorbed and transformed by the land without overloading the soil, water , air. What does not come back to earth, go inside pet bottles filled with the packaging becomes urban and gain utility serving as around the garden, support structures, among other possibilities. "
