We are building our own home, another challenge full of love and adventure! But of course, we couldn't build this dream in a "traditional" way, it would not be much our way of doing things. So our litlle mud home will be as sustainable and respectful to nature as possible, otherwise, we think, mother earth would distrust our appreciation and gratitude for her!
Our project has mud cob walls, where the raw material is basically the clay we have here, a green roof to decorate and refresh the heat of Bahia, banana plants to treat the water we use, local timber handled with respect , re-used glass and finishing materials, natural dye, dry toilet, without spending 23898395858945 liters of water to transport a little poop, rainwater harvesting and a lot of green ideas that will guide us in this moment.
And, it would not be our character, to build that beautiful thing with a "normal" construction guy and his ten helpers for an absurd price. No, we want to build it together with our children stepping mud, with a lot of happy people exchanging knowledge. We want to make this time of realizing our dream a great party! To date we have received over 120 volunteers who came from all over the world and an incredible return that will stay forever in our memories and on the walls of the house!
We have an online crowdfunding that helps us to feed all these good people that come to help us. We also bring people from the local community to learn a new profession and possibility and we pay the costs of them within the project. We are filming and photographing everything to edit a documentary about this experience and spread around the world the prettiness that is to build your own home with all the respect to nature.
